Home Decor | Cutie Conversation Heart Valentine Decor

I love creating fun little crafts using my scraps, and this one is the best as I got to use up a couple of different scraps in my stash - felt and vinyl! I used my scraps to make a trio of cutie conversation Valentine heart ornaments!

Check out my video tutorial to see how fun and easy these are to make!

I started out with these paper mache hearts I had in my stash from last year. I am pretty sure I got them a Dollar Tree, but you can find them in the links below.

I picked out soft colors of paints in pink, blue, and purple, to match the colors you would find in the conversation heart candies and painted the heart ornaments.

I used Apple Barrel paints from Plaid, and painted on a couple of coats so I did not see the brown color of the hearts, only the pretty soft colors I picked out.

While the hearts were drying, I made a few roses out of felt. The best part is they do not take much felt to make, so this is a great way to use up those scraps. These flowers are so easy to make, check out the video to see how!

Now to make the words for the hearts. I pulled out some vinyl scraps in coordinating colors. I used StyleTechCraft Craft Gloss vinyl and cut out the words with letter dies from Maker's Movement. Vinyl is so easy to cut with your dies you use for papercrafts, such a great double use of your craft supplies!

I added the letters to the StyleTechCraft transfer tape using the grid to line up the letters the way I liked it. Then I pulled off the sticker backing to get the words ready to place on the hearts.

I glued the felt leaves and felt roses to the corner with my Xyron Hot Glue Gun making room for the letters to be on the other side of the heart.

Lastly, place the vinyl words on the heart. I played with the colors of the vinyl and the felt flowers, using similar colors but not matching the color of the painted heart.

There are so many fun words you can place on the hearts. I picked out ones my kids could like, as they are each getting one of these little ornaments!

What phrase will you place on your hearts?
